Rock Stars are now reading Theme 2: American Stories. During the next few weeks students will read about “the lives, experiences and contributions of some Americans from a variety of backgrounds and generations”. The first story is Tomas and the Library Lady by Pat Mora. It is about the life of a migrant farm worker’s child. Students will be expected to make predictions about the story, sequence events, and draw conclusions.

Grammar: Proper Nouns – these are names of specific people. Ms. Owens, Danny, Boba Fett (from Starwars).

Math: Rock Stars are learning bout the difference between an equation (2+2=4) and an expression (doesn’t have an equals sign), and variables, a letter that represents a number like 2+b=3.
