Math - We are working on long division. Students are expected to know not just the algorithm, but also the vocabulary: divisor, dividend, and quotient.
Students need to memorize their basic facts. All the fourth grade teachers are witnessing that the students who know their facts quickly are more comfortable with the new concepts, and are scoring higher. Just a few minutes a day makes such a difference.
Reading - Students are expected to be reading daily at home. All students need to have at least 14 AR points by January 31st. Students not having enough points will be reading daily at recess until they have met their goal.
