Week of March 14

Spring Pictures are March 22. Watch for flyers coming home.

Spelling: This week’s objective is writing words that have a vowel/consonant/vowel (vcv) pattern. The rule is that the word is divided before the consonant if the first vowel sound is long. The word is divided after the consonant if the first vowel sound is short.

Basic Words: Pilot   depend   visit   human   seven   chosen   paper   reason   become   parent   never   modern   tiny   tuna   event   fever   moment   prison   basic   open

Challenge Words: alert   license   select   radar   feature
You can earn a free homework pass if you can tell the teacher what special name is used for words like radar, and come up with two more.

Homework: Write 10 well-written sentences using at least two different words in each sentence. They may be silly, but follow the writing standards we use in class. Papers not at standard will be redone in study hall.

Field Trip – We will be going on our Mission Field Trip this next Tuesday. We will return to school by lunch.

PTA’s Walk-a-thon was a huge success! Congratulations to Adrian and Mauro for each doing eight laps. They received medals for completing more laps than anyone else. Way to go!

Saint Patrick's Day is Thursday. Beware of mischievous leprechauns, please wear green, and no pinching is allowed.

Book/Diorama Project: Students have just finished reading three stories that deal with heros. Each student will choose a new biography to read, and then create a diorama to present to the class. More information will follow.
