Week 34 May 16-20

Spelling -  This week is all about unusual spellings. The spelling of these words are best memorized since they don’t follow any pattern or rule.
Basic Words: health   blood   type   against   receive   flood   month   magazine   guess   women   guide   style   wealth   guilt   says   guard   wonder   guest   gasoline   neither
Challenge Words: vaccine   quarantine   guarantee   threaten   rhyme

Social Studies – We are doing an interactive unit to study the Gold Rush in California in 1848. Students are earning “gold nuggets”. The culmination of this unit will be an auction. Students are encouraged to ask their parents for items gently used to donate to our auction. Students who donate items will be “paid” in “gold nuggets”. Our auction will be Friday, May 27. Students are encouraged to dress-up in “forty-niner” wear to make the auction more authentic.

Science – Students will be starting the ground work for their science fair projects. All work will be done at school to demonstrate the scientific method, and how to do a display board.

I want to thank all the students and families for making Teacher Appreciation week so special. I feel very spoiled. Thank you!
