Math: We are continuing practicing saying and writing
numbers up to nine digits (millions), and then comparing them using the greater
than > or less than < symbols. Math Vocabulary this week includes
standard form, period, expanded form, and word form.
Reading: We are exploring the story Akiak by Robert
Blake. Through this tale of the
Iditarod sled race we are learning about story structure (characters, setting,
and events) and summarizing the major events in a story.
Word
Work: We are focusing on adding the
suffixes –er when comparing two objects, and adding –est when comparing three
or more items.
Spelling Words: We are finishing up our study of the spelling
patterns of long and short a, and long and short e. The test is on Tuesday. The
next unit of study is looking at the spelling patterns of long and short i, and
long and short o. The test will be September 16.
