Math: We are wrapping up Topic 2: Addition and Subtraction Number Sense. This unit stresses the ability to round whole numbers, use mental math and estimate sums and differences. Rounding can be a bit confusing. The following poem helps:

Reading: We are reading the nonfiction selection Finding the Titanic. The focus is text organization. It is essentially a story inside a story. We are reviewing the reading strategy "Monitor/Clarify". Friday, students will begin the story On the Shores of Silver Lake.
Word Work: We are focusing syllabication, and decoding longer words.
