Week 9, Week of October 17

Math: We will assess on Topic Three: Multiplication and Division Meanings and Facts this week. Please continue to have your child practice flashcards at home so they are more successful during math.

Reading:  Monday we will begin our American Stories unit with the story Tomas and the Library Lady. We will focus on the predict and infer strategy, and determining key words for recognizing the sequence of events.

Word Work: We are focusing contractions and words with the vowel combinations aw, au, ow, and ou.
Spelling words to come home on Tuesday can be found at Spelling City. Scroll down the list to find the story Tomas and the Library Lady. Mrs. Easterly was kind enough to put all these online.

Writing: We are looking at the difference between common and proper nouns.
