Week 19 January 16-20

Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr Holiday. There is no school on Monday, January 16.

We are assessing what we studied in Theme 3 “That’s Amazing”. This is the time that students can shine. Skills covered are:

• Noting Detail
• Compare and Contrast
• Fantasy and Realism
• Information and Study Skills
• Compound Words
• Words with the suffix –able, and ending with –ed, or –ing
• Action, main, and helping verbs

Math: Students need to continue to memorize their basic Math Facts.
Students are learning about prime and composite numbers A prime number has exactly two factors, 1 and itself. A composite number has more than two factors. The number 1 is neither prime nor composite.

Word Work: New spelling words will be coming home on Thursday. We are focusing on the spelling of the /k/, /ng/, and /kw/ sounds.
