Math: Knowing the multiplication facts quickly and accurately is vital! Students will be taking the Topic 4 test this week on multiplying 3 or 4 digits by one digit. They have learned the standard algorithm, but also know the expanded algorithm that actually shows the true value of the numbers. We will begin a new unit on variables and expressions. Yes, this is algebra.
Reading: Continuing with our American Stories unit we will be studying the story Tanya's Reunion. . We will focus on the predict and infer strategy, the root words -sign and -spect, Later in the week we will be reading the wonderful tale about John Stetson, Boss of the Plains.
Word Work: the spelling test will be on Wednesday, Nov. 2! we will be testing the sounds in moon and cook. New spelling words will come home on Friday, and can also be found at Spelling City. Scroll down the list to find the story Boss of the Plains. Mrs. Easterly was kind enough to put all these online.
Writing: We are looking at the difference between singular and plural nouns nouns, and more plural nouns
