This is also the last selection in Theme 4. We will be taking the Theme 4 assessment this week. Students will be asked to show their knowledge about reading comprehension skills, prefixes, suffixes, vocabulary, grammar, and spelling patterns we have covered during this theme.
Math: Essential understanding this week focuses on equivalent fractions. These are found by multiplying or dividing the numerator and denominator by the same nonzero number. Students also will reduce fractions to simplest form, identify improper fractions and mixed numbers.

Word Work: VCCV pattern -Words with this pattern are often divided into syllables between the two consonants. Consonant clusters – may be two or three consonants and the sounds are blended together ie. str, spr, cl sw, and fr. Connotation – negative or positive.
Spelling words: bottom, picture, other, attend, capture, common, danger, afraid, borrow, office, arrow, suppose, escape, whether, pillow, dinner, thirty, degree, allow, corner.
Test will be February 29.
Grammar: Comparing with adjectives – using -er, and -est. With long adjectives use more, and use most to compare three or more nouns.
Writing: Writing proper paragraphs, and using good/better/best, and bad/worse/worst.
